Well last week I was in Santa Barbara. The highlights were that I got exposed to a scientist who is actually doing work for the sake of science. How refreshing! And also that Santa Barbara is such a beautiful town. It has the great coast but then all the houses are up in the mountains. I think that the scenery of Santa Barbara is what people think of when they think of California. Cute, with nice beaches and palm trees everywhere. However, there was one major glitch. Or at least it was a glitch to me, but oddly, no one else seemed particularly concerned. Didn't you notice that the mountain was on fire? uhm, hello? Didn't you notice the hugenormous red flames and the looming cloud of smoke? And one morning I woke up and it was snowing. Now, as a small town girl from the land of cows and cheeze, this type of thing isn't anything abnormal. But these snowflakes where actually soooot. eww. And poor Patrick was entirely covered in snow. I think I have emphyesima now.

  1. wow. ashy snow. who knew? i thought that sort of thing only happened when volcanos erupted. i guess not. more strange than the mountain burning is that no one was concerned. maybe blazing mountain ranges are an every day occurance in CA.
